Nana is the man of 97 in Germany. His album features
four hits that broke the top 20 in
Germany. "Lonely" made it to number one, as "Darkman" at one
point was at three and "Let it

Nana was born in Ghana. At the age of ten moved to Hamburg Germany.
There he completed high school
and afterwords became a DJ. He starred in two German movies called
?Schattenboxer? and ?Fernes Land
Paisch?. It is also know, for a reason I am not aware of, that he spent
time in Jail where he most probably
created some of his lyrics. He was then discovered by BÝlent Ans and
Tony Cottura - Producers of Fun
Factory, Backstreet Boys and Marky Mark. From there on his fame in
Germany skyrocketed.

Nana Kwame Abrokwa was born at 05.10.1969 in Accra, Ghana as a son
of rich parents. If the marriage of his parents broke down, his
mother decided, to go with the at that time 10 year-old Nana, the
two brothers and his sister to Germany. It followed a very hard
childhood for Nana. He often was teased and threated because of his
black colour. The badest thing for Nana was, if his mother died. A
world broke down for Nana. His only support was the belief to god.
He found a bookmark on the page of the Psalm 23, at the bible of
his mother. "The Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need.
Even I go through the deepest darkness, I will not be afraid. Lord
for you are with me..." This psalm became to the favourite sentence
of Nana, and gave him new courage.
After ending the school, in
1988, he began to make
music. In 1992 and 1993 he
showed, with the rolls in
the films "Schattenboxer"
and "Fernes Land Paisch",
that he also can act in
films. At the same time he
organized his legendary Hip
Hop-, New Jack Swing-,
Breakdance-, Techno- and
House-Partys, where he and
other DJ's layed on. Another
big step in his carrier was,
if Toni Cottura and Bülent
Aris was attended on Nana in
1994. The both succesful
producers recognized quickly
the enormous potential,
which Nana has. Since Bülent
Aris, Toni Cottura (produced
for Fun Factory, Backstreet Boys, Marky Mark, 'N Sync etc.) and
Holger Storm foundated Booya Music, they worked on the solo project
of Nana. The first success, in spring 1997, was "Darkman", the
single of Nana reached position 4 in the German TOP 100 single
charts. The next single "Lonely" reached within a monts position 1
in German and stayed there for 5 weeks! "Lonely" is the sound track
of the film "14 Tage lebenslänglich", there will be a US version
soon. That wasn't the end, in May 1997 his first album was
released. It's a collection of 11 tracks, which shows Nana's
multiplicity. There are many good tracks on it. The 3rd single "Let
It Rain" showed, that Nana can complete with US rappers. The 4th
single "He's Comin'" has its first night on 30th August 1997 at a
boxing match of Axel Schulz, a famous German boxer. The song has
parts, which sang an professional opera-singer. In the end of 1997,
the 5th single names "Too Much Heaven" was published, it's a cover
version of the Bee Gees song. The song is dedicated to poor people.
And so the year 1997 was over. It was a successful year for Nana: 5
single hits, which are all under the top twenty of the German TOP
100 single charts. Apart from many golden records and the 2
platinum records for "Lonely" and the 1st album "NANA" he acquires
2 R.SH GOLD (for best German produced artist 1997 & Newcomer of
the
year 1997) and 2 ECHO '98 (for best German artist 1997 & best
German after-growth artist 1997).
The year 1998 started good for him, the single "Too Much Heaven",
which was released in the end of 1997, reached position 2 of the
German TOP 100 single charts and stayed for weeks in the charts. In
the end of 1997 his first own tour ends, he was of course with the
whole BOOYA FAMILY on tour (special guests: Trey D. & Young
Deenay). Before this he was on tour with the Backstreet Boys. In
March 1998 Nana was overhappy, when his daughter Aaliyah was born.
Together with girl-friend Kathy he tried to stay with his daughter
as often as he can. At 6th April 1998 the a new single "Remember
The Time", which already reached gold status, was released. In the,
at 18th May released 2nd album "Father", Nana placed asunder with
his past and his creed. The album is as the first very successfull
- highest position in the German TOP 100 album charts: 4. The
single "Dreams" was released in the middle of August 1998 and
reached position 18 in the German charts. At the music mass PopKomm
Nana got the Comet '98 at the catergory "act national". At 16th
November 1998 the single "Father" was released, Nana's 8th single,
from the same named album. About the clip shot there is a "Making
of Father" on videocassette available. In the clip Nana's daughter
Aaliyah can be seen. Since the beginning of the year 1999 Nana
takes a break to grieve his family, make holidays and record new
songs for his 3rd album. On 15th November 1999 NANA is back with "I
Wanna Fly (Like An
Eagle)". Many gigs at TV stations, radio stations und live gigs followed.
The 3rd album "U-Secret" of
NANA wouldn't be released. He left BOOYA MUSIC and founded his own
production firm XTRA LARGE
MUSIC GMBH. NANA made a long break, but in Arpil 2001 he was back with
his new song "Du wirst
sehen". This was a big surprise for alle fans, then NANA never had
released a German song. A new
album is in progress and will be released in this year.

01.02.21 Report from the NANA Interview on Viva: Nana's Album will
have a mixture of German & English
songs, Pappa Bear & v.d. Toorn did 2 Tracks on it, Toni also produced
something on it. It's finished 60% as
Nana said...and.. I'm really sad about that...He said that this will
be his last Album. Then he will work no
longer as an Artist, but he will work as a producer & work on the
business part of Xtra Large. So we all have
to enjoy the new song & the new album very much 'cause it's the

the split of BOOYA and a whole lot of new things, Nana is now in Xtra
Large Studios and records his third
album. After first single from the forthcoming album,"I Wanna Fly(Like
An Eagle)", NANA will soon release
his new album "U-Secret" and will be out very soon.
Nana Abrokwa was born 5 October, 1969 in Ghana. At the age of 10, he
came to
Germany with his mother, brothers and sisters. That changed his life
a lot and he
learned a lot of new things. Nana had music as a hobby from the early
years and when
he finished school, he began as a DJ. He played at a lot of places
and got kind of
famous. He was also starring in two German movies. He, he...well he
could as well be
an actor. Also he met Toni Cottura. They new that they would work together
some
time, but then Toni was successful with the Fun Factory and producing
great hits for
now famous groups like Backstreet Boys, ´N Sync and Marky Mark. Finally
Toni, with
his partner Bulö left the Fun Factory and it was finally time for them
to work
together with Nana.
Nana´s first song was released in early 1997 and was called "Darkman".
The song was
a big success in Europe, especially in Germany, Austria, Switzerland
& the Benelux.
Then came the real breakthrough for NANA with the single "Lonely".
It was a
super-hit of 1997. "Lonely", stayed over 1 month at number 1 in Germany!
The the
people outside Germany began to hear this fabulous song and it really
got big. It
reached the top5 on most of the charts in European countries.
Then came the singles "Let It Rain", "He´s Comin´" & "Too Much
Heaven". They all
entered the top10 in Germany. Because off the top-selling single "Lonely",
Nana was
already famous and the people began to buy his next songs and they
began comfortable
at the chart-tops all over Europe. Then, in May´98 came the 2nd Nana-album,
"Father". He released the songs "Remember The Time", "Dreams" and "Father"
from
that, and they all also became hits.
In the middle of 2000, Booya Family split up because of Toni Cottura
and B'ulent
Aris wanted different things and Nana had to sign for a new record
company. Now he
is at Xtra Large records to record the 3rd album. Nana first single
from the 3rd
album, "I Wanna Fly (Like An Eagle)" was released in November´99 and
it is a
wonderful ballad about freedom. The new single "You Will See" will
be released in
two languages, English and German, and will be out in January 2001.

THE FIRST ALBUM, "NANA - The Album"
NANA - The
Album
This album is a masterpiece and it has it all! From track 1 to track
11 you are
bouncing your head all the time. This is in my opinion the best album
ever! All
songs had hit-potentials, especially "Why?" and "One Second". The super
songs
"Darkman", "Lonely", "Let it rain" and "!,2,3 Are U Ready" show the
difference of
the album. There are slow songs, fast songs and typical Darkman-songs!
This album
will be unbeaten for a long long time! /Tumbo

THE SECOND ALBUM, "FATHER"
FATHER
This album is a little bit slower then the first. Has also 11 tracks.
"Father" is
the first track and it´s a wonderful song about Nana´s father."Do You
Really Think
You Know Me?", is fabulous because it´s a little different from the
other. I have
to say that the voices off the song sounds like "Darkman". Cool !!.

Nana is a wonderful text-writer. He rights with so much feeling, that
you can feel
it in the song.
Like I said, there are 11 tracks on the CD. "You" is about Nana´s mother,
who died
in brain cancer as I told you earlier. It´s a great song and it really
makes you
glad, because off the good song, and sad, because of Nana´s sadness
and pain in the
rap. Thw whole album is a peace of great work and it would be hard
for me to pick
the best song in the album, but if I would have to, it would be "Dreams",
because
the song is just as beautiful as my all-time favourite "Lonely". "Remember
The
Time", "Too Much Heaven" and "Pocket Full Of Memories" are some tracks
that
will kepp your head bumpin. The last song of the album, "G.O.D." finishes
off the
CD-with style.
